KDF Flag Day 2023

In a groundbreaking move to reshape the landscape of charitable giving, the Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) hosted its annual Flag Day event on 15 July 2023. Striking a harmonious balance between tradition and technology, KDF introduced over 50 cutting-edge GivePlease donation terminals alongside the iconic donation tins, underscoring a commitment to innovation while preserving the essence of a longstanding tradition.

Flag Day holds a significant place in the hearts of KDF supporters, where volunteers and donors have traditionally contributed through familiar donation tins. Recognising the enduring impact of these traditional methods, KDF takes a bold leap into the digital era to meet the evolving preferences of donors, particularly those inclined towards technology. The introduction of GivePlease donation terminals is a strategic move to cater to a broader audience and enhance the overall donor experience.

The GivePlease donation terminals stand out as a modern and user-friendly platform, designed to accommodate donors who prefer digital transactions. With an in-built secure payment engine and innovative Singpass integration, donors can seamlessly submit their particulars via Singpass QR code scanning, streamlining the process and enabling them to enjoy tax deduction benefits after contributing to KDF.

Beyond providing a seamless donation experience, the strategic objectives of this initiative are twofold. Firstly, KDF aims to amplify brand awareness through extensive public outreach. Secondly, the Foundation endeavours to raise essential funds to sustain ongoing efforts in serving needy kidney patients in Singapore.

Volunteers, hailing from diverse backgrounds, including some KDF patients, as well as our dedicated KDF staff and nurses, played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this year’s Flag Day. These dedicated individuals became the face of KDF, fostering connections with the public and conveying the importance of supporting the foundation's mission.

They were strategically stationed at key locations across Singapore:

  1. Jurong East MRT Station – West Cluster
  2. Tampines Bus Interchange – East Cluster
  3. Bishan Bus Interchange – Central Cluster
  4. Serangoon Bus Interchange – Central Cluster
  5. KDF Kreta Ayer Dialysis Centre – Central Cluster

In upholding the cherished tradition of Flag Day, KDF seamlessly incorporated the iconic donation tin cans into its innovative fundraising approach. Energetic staff members ventured out, engaging members of the public with heartfelt conversations about KDF's mission. The familiar presence of donation tin cans not only resonated with long-time supporters but also provided a tangible link to the foundation's rich history.

Embracing the digital age, KDF affixed its PayNow QR code onto the donation tins, offering donors a convenient option for digital contributions. As a token of appreciation for each generous donation, members of the public received Flag Day stickers and tissue packets, featuring the company's logo and tagline, "Serving The Needy Since 1996." This gesture not only expressed gratitude but also served as a tangible reminder of the enduring impact their contributions make in supporting those in need within the community.

KDF would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff, patients, volunteers, and members of the public for their invaluable participation in this meaningful initiative, which successfully raised more than $30,000. Guided by a steadfast commitment to progress, impact, and the well-being of the community, KDF aims to maintain its position at the forefront of charitable endeavours, continually striving to better serve underprivileged kidney patients in Singapore.
