Renal Friends, a patient support group at the Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) was initiated by KDF’s Medical Director, Dr Lina Choong to cater to both the emotional and psychological needs of all kidney patients and their families in Singapore. This program is not exclusive to KDF patients.
Launched in February 1997, Renal Friends aims to bring together kidney patients to enhance interaction, mutual sharing, and support among them.
Renal Friends consists of committed and enthusiastic volunteers who include kidney patients themselves. They help to organise activities such as outings to places of interests, provide peer support to new kidney patients and their families. The committee also organises periodic talks on medical issues to increase patients' awareness, and compile educational materials for patients' reference.
Renal Friends welcomes kidney patients from other dialysis centres to be part of the voluntary team as they would know the needs of kidney patients as well as how to reach out to them. There are simply many different ways you can be part of this wonderful group.
We would be happy to hear from you; give us a call at 6559 2630 or sign up here.
Renal Friends’ activities fall in the following categories:
• Befriending patients in distress
2. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
• Annual year-end parties
• Trips to places of interest locally and to Malaysia
• Educational tours
3. PATIENT EDUCATION

The committee hopes to do more in the future by
